そしてスパイス・ガールズの存在感を世界中に見せつけた2012年ロンドンオリンピックの閉会式。一夜限りの特別なパフォーマンスでしたが、やはり5人が集まれば最強だということを改めて証明した瞬間です。

そんな衰え知らずのスパイス・ガールズ人気に伴い、近年は5人が揃わなくても新曲やツアーを敢行することも。2019年にはヴィクトリアを除く4人で2度目となる再結成ツアーが行われたことから不仲説も飛び出しましたが、彼女が決してメンバーと距離を置いているわけではなく、4人の子供を持つ母であり、心はいつだってスパイス・ガールズの一員と考えるヴィクトリアにとってそれは簡単な決断ではなかったと、雑誌のインタビューで語っています。

2021年6月にはそんなヴィクトリアが発表したチャリティー商品のモデルにメンバー4人を起用し、ステージ上で5人が揃うことは叶わなかったものの、スパイスたちの強い絆を再確認する出来事となりました。

そして2021年7月にデビュー25周年を迎えた彼女たち。10月29日にはデビューアルバムにして驚異的なヒットを記録した『Spice』の25周年記念盤が発売されます。ガールパワー健在で素敵に年齢を重ねるスパイス・ガールズから今後も目が離せませんね。
